Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator. Elders, John Lyons, Joseph A. Marquis, Easton Daniels and Samuel Aikin.

Isaac Paxton and Agnes, his wife, dismissed by Certificate. Session closed with prayer. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

April 10th, 1850.

Thus far examined and approved by Presbytery meeting in Deerfield. G. Wilson, Moderator.

Olive Church, May 11th, 1850.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator. Elders, John Lyons, Easton Daniels and Samuel Aikin.

Recieved on examination into full communion with Church, Joanna Cain.

May 12th, 1850.

The Lord's Supper was administered.

May 13th, 1850.

The following children were Baptized,

Margaret Ann, infant daughter of James and Jane Kelley,

Edward, infant son of John B. and Temperence Marquis, and

Mary Elizabeth, infant daughter of William and Sarah Reed.

Joseph A. Marquis and Samuel Aikin were appointed a committee to enquire into the deportment of S. J. Moore. Closed with prayer. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

Olive, Jan. 19th, 1851.

Feb. 13, 1851.

The committee of Session formerly appointed to inquire into the deportment of Mrs. S. J. Moore made the following report, that having conversed with her in reference to her conduct, she made the following statement, I do hereby acknoweledge that I have engaged in improper amusement for which I am sorry and I will endeavor for the future, relying upon the Grace of God to avoid such conduct. Recieved, on examination, to the full communion of this Church, Mathew Mcall, Alice Timberlake, Alexander Boggs, Mary Ann Boggs, Thomas Racy, W. M. Cain, Elizabeth Parrish and Nancy A. Moore.

Feb. 19th, 1851.

The ordinance of Baptism was administered to the following persons, Mathew Mcall, W. M. Cain, Thomas Racy, Elizabeth Parrish.

Feb. 20th, 1851.

Recieved, on examination, to the communion of this Church, Joseph Gill, Elizabeth Marquis, Charity Ann Parrish, Sarah Ann Misinier, John Glen, Leander McPherson, and on Sabbath the 23rd, Katherine Cain, Sarah Glen, Rebecca Elisabeth Stewart.

The same day the ordinance of Baptism was administered to Leander McPherson, Elizabeth Marquis, Charity Ann Parrish and Katherine Cain.

March 1st, 1852.

Olive, May 15, 1852.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator, Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels and Samuel Aikin.

Recieved as regular members in full communion with this Church, by Certificate, David C. Eakin, Violet Eakin, Thomas O. Dowel and on examination, Mary Hill, Mary J. Byers.

Sabbath, May 16th, 1852.

Sacrament of the Lord's Supper administered, assisted by Rev. Mr. Crofford. Closed with prayer, Samuel Aikin, clerk.

May 17th, 1852.

David Eakin, formerly a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church was regularly elected a Ruling Elder in this Church and installed into office in this Church.

June 1, 1852.

An election being held for Deacons, the following persons were elected, Joseph Glen, Reuben Boggs and John B. Marquis.

June 18th, 1852.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator, Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels and Samuel Aikin.

A report being in circulation, unfavorable to the Christian character of Robert Thompson, John Lyons and Easton Daniels were appointed a committee to converse with him.

Sept. 18, 1852.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator, Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels, David Eakin and Samuel Aikin.

Recieved on examination to full communion with this Church, John Orr, Michael Morrison and Martha Morrison and on Certificate Mary Lyons.

Sabbath, Sept. 19th, 1852.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was administered.

Monday, Sept. 20th, 1852.

The following children were baptized,

Reuben, infant son of Alex and Mary A. Boggs,

Francis Marian, infant son of Joseph and Eleanor Gill,

William Reed, infant son of John and Elizaneth (Elizabeth?) Cain and

Margaret and James Gin, children of John and Ann Orr.

Rev. William Aikin assisted. Closed with prayer. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

October 16th, 1852.

A committee having been appointed to converse with Mr. McPherson made the following report.

Mr. McPherson, having declared his intentions to leave this Church about a year ago but not having informed the Session fully of his design, they did no dismiss him at that time. He seems not to have considered himself as a member not having acted as such, the Session concluded to consider him from that time as no longer a member of this Church. The above was read in the Church on Sabbath the 17th of October.

The Committee formerly appointed to converse with Mr. Thompson made the following report.

I do hereby acknowledge that in last June I took some intoxicating drink and after returning home and finding some things not according to my mind, I did and said things to my family for which I now feel sorry. I will endeavor hereafter, relying upon the Grace of God to avoid all such conduct. Signed -- Robert Thompson.

Dec. 5th, 1852.

Reuben Boggs, Joseph Glen and J. B. Marquis formerly elected Deacons were this day installed and ordained into office in this Church. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

The Committee formerly appointed to converse with Mr. Gill report that they visited him at different times and recieved no acknowledgement, the committee was discontinued.

March 2nd, 1853.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator. Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels and David Eakin.

Upon agreement of Session that Joseph Gill be cited to appear before Session to answer to the following charge, Common fame charges Joseph Gill of Immoral conduct in the use of intoxicating drink. Closed with prayer. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

March 16th, 1853.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator, Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels, David Eakin and Samuel Aikin.

On motion that Joseph Marquis and Samuel Aikin be appointed to converse with William Marquis. The committee reports Mr. Marquis made the following acknowledgement: I do hereby acknowledge that in December last I left my home to go a journey on the Sabbath Day for which I now feel sorry and will endeavor hereafter, relying on the Grace of God, to avoid all such conduct. The above was read in the Church March 18th, 1853.

The ordinance of the Lord's Supper was administered. Session closed with prayer. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

April 20th, 1853.

Martha Parrish Deceased.

May 17th, 1853.

According to decision of a previous meeting of Session Mr. Gill was cited to appear before the Session of this Church to answer to a charge of immorel conduct. Upon reflection, Mr. Gill makes the following acknowledgement that in Oct. last when in company with some others I took some intoxication drink for which, now, I feel sorry and will endeaver hereafter relying upon the Grace of God to avoid such conduct.

May 28th, 1853.

The Ordinance of Baptism was administered to Josephine Tilton. The same day the Lord's Supper was administered.

Recieved on examination to full communion with this Church, Jane Kelly. Saturday, the Ordinance of Baptism was administered to her.

Monday, Sept. 5, 1853.

November 28th, 1853.

Olive, Dec. 10th, 1853.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator. Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels, David Eakin and Samuel Aikin.

Mr. Gill, a member of this Church, having at different times acted inconsitently with the Christian character and frequent attempts having been made to reclaim him, having been cited to appear before Session which he did not do but made an acknowledgement which immediately appeared from different acts of a similar nature to be insincere. Session, after due consideration, decided to suspend him from the Communion of this Church.

The foregoing was read to the congregation Dec. 10th, 1853.

The Lord's Supper was administered.

December 12th, 1853.

Recieved, on examination, to full communion with this Church, James Boggs, Sarah Boggs, Rachael Daniels.

The same day baptized John William, infant son of David V. Eakin.

Olive Church, April 8th, 1854.

Session met and was constituted with prayer. Members present, Rev. William Reed, Moderator. Elders, John Lyons, Joseph Marquis, Easton Daniels, David Eakin and Samuel Aikin.

Recieved, on examination, to full communion with this Church, Samuel Marquis, jun. The same day, on Certificate, Mrs. Caldwell and Jonathan Lyons.

Sabbath, April 9th, 1854.

The Lord's Supper was administered.

Sermon on Monday. Rev. J. P. Caldwell, assisted. Samuel Aikin, clerk.

Thus far examined and approved in Presbytery at Cambridge, Ohio, April 12th, 1854. M. A. Hoge Moderator. (note added, see page 112. This refers to note above to page 108).

Olive Church, September 8th, 1856.

At a meeting of the Congregation of Olive Church, Mr. T. D. Howell was chosen Chairman and D. C. Eakin, secretary. The house being called to order, the following business was transacted. On motion that the relation now existing between the Rev. J. P. Caldwell and the Congregation of Olive be, and is hereby dissolved which was carried unanimously.

On motion that we proceed to take a vote on the application of the Rev. A. S. Billingsly to become Pastor of this Church when on taking a rising vote carried unaminously.

On motion that a committee be appointed to inform Mr. Billingsly of this action which was also carried. The Chair appointed Mr. E. Daniels and Samuel Aikin to said Committee. On motion that we adjourn. Dr. T. D. Howell, chairman. D. C. Aikin, secretary.
